Merchant City, Glasgow
Cuisine: Indian
Part of Glasgow’s vibrant Merchant City, Dakhin is a restaurant specialising in South Indian cooking rather than generic Indian dishes. The sister restaurant to the nearby Dhabba which serves northern Indian specialities, Dakhin is located on an airy first floor space, and has an open plan kitchen for guests to watch their choices come to life. Dakhin was the first southern Indian restaurant, not just in Glasgow but the whole of Scotland, to dedicate itself to unique, regional specialities, which sets it apart from most of its peers.
44 Candleriggs, G1 1LE
Based in Glasgow’s Merchant City on Candleriggs, Dhabba has brought north Indian cooking to the city centre. Dhabba was one of the first Indian restaurants in Glasgow to concentrate on regional specialities rather than Anglo-Indian staples. The result is an award-winning restaurant whose sleek, modern looks match its innovative approach to Indian food.
42 Albion Street, G1 1LH
City Centre, Glasgow
Madha is a contemporary Indian restaurant on Albion Street in the heart of Glasgow’s Merchant City. The bright, open dining room that looks onto the street gives way to a larger space tucked away beyond the bar. Opened in the summer of 2017, Madha is pleasingly different from traditional Anglo-Indian restaurants and offers an intriguing range of dishes which would not look out of place in Jaipur or Kochi. The menu is adaptable to any dietary requirement and even offers vegan wines, if required.
