I dine at the Piccolo fairly frequently and usually have no complaints. The food was the usual good quality but I felt this time the service was slow in bringing our main courses (we didn't have starters). Then when we got the bill we had been overcharged by £8. I was very disappointed. When I went up to reception to point this out, the apology seemed half hearted with a mumbled excuse of something like "the price automatically goes up after a certain time". Although one of our party was held up by traffic, we were seated 15 minutes after the time we said we'd be there (6.00pm) and well before the 6.30 deadline to be seated to get the deal. We certainly were not there for too long as we left before 8.30pm and there was nothing on the deal that said tables had to be back within a certain time on a Wednesday. Also, considering how long we had to wait for our main course, we really didn't take long at all over our meal. I think I will be trying some new places from now on.
