About The Bothy
Christopher Preston - 09/07/2015
An excellent meal and great, friendly service. Just one problem: the 5pm booking was mentioned by me, and acknowledged by the staff, on arrival but the 20% discount was not included in the bill and had to be requested by me, resulting in the production of a new bill with the discount applied. This was a slightly embarassing end to a great evening.

Great food and service
Friendly Scottish restaurant off Byres Road
Located off Byres Road on Ruthven Lane in Glasgow’s Hillhead, The Bothy is a Scottish restaurant that skilfully mixes modern and traditional influences. With its stripped walls, chunky wooden furniture and vintage Scottish newspapers, the decor combines the welcoming feel of granny’s kitchen with a Highland lodge. Friendly staff in kilts add the finishing touches to the stylishly retro feel.
Traditional Scottish food
The Bothy in Glasgow’s West End follows the traditions of Scottish home cooking but gives the dishes a restaurant level of precision and presentation. Popular choices include the haggis, neeps and tatties; the grilled Scottish salmon and the steak pie along with the Sunday roast.
The kitchen at The Bothy is not afraid to mix it up. The Bothy house burger comes on focaccia and is made from steak and haggis. Other non-Scottish influences might include a chorizo accompaniment to roast Ayrshire lamb or the smoked pancetta in a salad of poached egg and Stornoway black pudding.
West End transport links
The Bothy is on Ruthven Lane, just off Byres Road in Glasgow’s West End. Ruthven Lane is opposite Hillhead subway station and there are numerous bus routes running along Byres Road. There is a limited amount of on street parking in the area around The Bothy as well as some pay car parking provision. Taxis are plentiful on Byres Road.
Free wifi access is available every day of the week, ideal if you’ve got a working lunch or just feel like a nosey on Facebook.
