Exceptional - great choice for a vegetarian

Top quality food, interesting combinations and generous portions. All served with grace, efficiency and a smile in a beautiful setting. What more could you ask for?

    Relaxing Sunday dinner

The makeover of the strathmore really is fantastic and it's good to see the food matches up to the venue. The fish cake starter was delicious (even if it didn't taste Thai) and the Thai noodles were really flavourful with a good amount of heat. The only disappointment was they were out of Sunday roast but I guess that means it must be good! All in all, great value for money and I would definitely return.

Contemporary, revitalised Maryhill bar

The Strathmore on Maryhill Road may date back to the 1870s but now looks as fresh as a daisy following a major refurbishment in the summer of 2015. As well as a complete and stylish modernisation of the interior, an airy glass extension and a sunny terrace have been added. A wood-burning stove will keep it all cosy in the winter while regular acoustic music acts and live sports mean that it will never be dull.

Modern pub grub favourites

The Strathmore’s bar menu is packed with popular, contemporary options. There are sandwiches, salads, wraps, buns, burgers and pizza as well as sharing platters featuring Asian style ribs and hearty haggis and black pudding fritters.
The ever popular BBQ pulled pork makes several appearances along with mac ‘n’ cheese and, of course, fish and chips. Exotic flavours crop up in dishes such as the Chilean grilled cheese on crusty white bread or the spicy voodoo chicken burger which is topped with jalapenos, peppadew peppers and a Caribbean sauce. Full marks for the name of the Glasvegan burger, made with chickpeas, sweetcorn, coriander and paprika with lemon zest.

Local transport and attractions

The Strathmore is on Maryhill Road and on the route of several bus services to and from Glasgow city centre. There is restricted on-street parking. Firhill Stadium and Glasgow Botanic Gardens are among the nearby attractions. The closest subway is Kelvinbridge.
