Return visit to The Sisters after more than a year. The menu had been refreshed -for the better. Smoked haddock risotto with poached egg added an exotic Italian touch to an old Scots favourite - this time as starter.
If the starter was pleasing, the venison entree was stunning. The meat was of superb quality - better than a recent one in Skye - and the beetroot, red cabbage and raspberry accompaniment hit the spot both in colour and fragrance - as well as matchig flavour. Although the side brocolli was beyond reproach, the roasted potatoes in their skins, while a great idea, seemed rather tired in execution.
The cranachan pudding was stunning -just the right time of year for it while the extended raspberry season was still going strong. Although the restaurant was almost full, the sole waiter managed to deliver attentive, friendly and humorous service throughout.
