Love the food in here, great value, and fantastic staff, very hot restaurant, could be a little cooler.
This was our third visit, but this time with two friends. We all enjoyed the 5pm deal, great choice and good portions. We will certainly make further visits.
Contemporary Spanish tapas in Finnieston
Since the end of the Noughties, the Finnieston area of Glasgow has become a hot spot for fashionable new bars and restaurants. Opened in the spring of 2014, Rioja Finnieston fits right in. Mismatched, thrift store chic gives this Spanish bar and kitchen a bohemian feel. While the decor may be hip, cool and casual, this is a well run operation and the sister business to more conventional restaurants such as Fino and La Rotunda.
Classic and contemporary Spanish tapas
Featuring prawns cooked in garlic and chilli, paella, tortilla and deep-fried squid, Rioja Finnieston has all the traditional tapas dishes that diners have come to love. More adventurous customers may want to mix them up with choices from the modern tapas selection. From grilled octopus with potato foam and smoked paprika to chicken lollipops with a red wine caramel, there are plenty of interesting surprises on offer here.
A good selection of wines by the glass and bottle plus some inventive cocktails, including a selection of punches to shares with friends, helps keep the atmosphere buoyant at Rioja Finnieston.
