About Persia

'Another great visit to Persia'
sandie mackay - 07/09/2014
I've been here a few times and it doesn't disappoint. I met 2 friends for lunch who had never been and we all really enjoyed the food, service and of course they will both now return. They have a very good selection on the special lunch menu and it includes a 175ml of wine so it's great value for money. The portions are big: none of us could finish our main courses and certainly no room for a pudding.
'Tastiest food ever'

Excellent restaurant, service and food. Lunch menu only £7.50. Beautiful.

Authentic Middle Eastern Glasgow West End

Persia is a Middle Eastern restaurant, shisha bar and cafe on Glasgow’s Great Western Road. Large windows which give it an airy, spacious feel and also allow diners to watch the outside street life. It has a large mocktail bar and several varieties of flavoured tobacco for the shisha pipes

Mezze, kebabs and stews

Persia has a good selection of mezze or starters. From familiar houmous and falafels to aubergine dips and cucumber salads via fatoush and stuffed peppers, you could make a very good meal from the starters alone. However, it would be foolish to miss out on the grilled lamb and chicken dishes which are cooked over charcoal.

Persia also has some traditional stews such as the fessenjan – finely chopped walnuts and chicken in a Persian pomegranate sauce. Also popular are the slow-cooked lamb shanks in a cinnamon sauce. Fish options include a spiced prawn dish and the fried haddock which is marinated in the house secret sauce. Accompany it with a fruit daiquiri and perhaps a drawn-out chat over a mint shisha.

Transport links on Great Western Road

Persia restaurant is towards the Byres Road end of the Great Western Road in Glasgow. As well as some roadside parking, there are a large number of major bus routes running along the Great Western Road. Kelvinbridge subway station is a little over a five minute walk.
