About Persia

'Birthday Night Out'
Linda McLaughlin - 28/11/2014
Food, as usual, was great, although my friend found the walnut chicken a little rich. Service was lovely and friendly. The restaurant was very quiet for a Thursday evening, which made it a little less lively than the last time we went (Saturday) but it was still warm and welcoming.

Authentic Middle Eastern Glasgow West End

Persia is a Middle Eastern restaurant and cafe on Glasgow’s Great Western Road. Large windows which give it an airy, spacious feel and also allow diners to watch the outside street life.

Mezze, kebabs and stews

Persia has a good selection of mezze or starters. From familiar houmous and falafels to aubergine dips and cucumber salads via fatoush and stuffed peppers, you could make a very good meal from the starters alone. However, it would be foolish to miss out on the grilled lamb and chicken dishes which are cooked over charcoal.

Persia also has some traditional stews such as the fessenjan – finely chopped walnuts and chicken in a Persian pomegranate sauce. Also popular are the slow-cooked lamb shanks in a cinnamon sauce. Fish options include a spiced prawn dish and the fried haddock which is marinated in the house secret sauce.

Transport links on Great Western Road
