'Great Night and Good Food'
Chris Bartter - 27/07/2014
We were taking visitors to the city, out on a busy Games Saturday. Persia is an unusual restaurant, and this night it was jumping. Given that, the service was good humoured and effective. The food was different and very tasty. Persia is a great addition to Glasgow's range of restaurants.

Lovely food, large glass of wine, ask for a seat at the window.
Authentic Middle Eastern Glasgow West End
Persia is a Middle Eastern restaurant, shisha bar and cafe on Glasgow’s Great Western Road. Large windows which give it an airy, spacious feel and also allow diners to watch the outside street life. It has a large mocktail bar and several varieties of flavoured tobacco for the shisha pipes
Mezze, kebabs and stews
Persia has a good selection of mezze or starters. From familiar houmous and falafels to aubergine dips and cucumber salads via fatoush and stuffed peppers, you could make a very good meal from the starters alone. However, it would be foolish to miss out on the grilled lamb and chicken dishes which are cooked over charcoal.
Persia also has some traditional stews such as the fessenjan – finely chopped walnuts and chicken in a Persian pomegranate sauce. Also popular are the slow-cooked lamb shanks in a cinnamon sauce. Fish options include a spiced prawn dish and the fried haddock which is marinated in the house secret sauce. Accompany it with a fruit daiquiri and perhaps a drawn-out chat over a mint shisha.
Transport links on Great Western Road
Persia restaurant is towards the Byres Road end of the Great Western Road in Glasgow. As well as some roadside parking, there are a large number of major bus routes running along the Great Western Road. Kelvinbridge subway station is a little over a five minute walk.
