Small but not cramped with a comfortably intimate atmosphere. Pre-theatre menu excellent value at £12.95 including large glass of smooth house red. Half-carafe of Carmenere was superb on top of that. Basket of delicious home-made rolls included. We all chose the fishcake starter - crammed with fish, just enough potato to bind and very tasty - possibly too filling for a starter! No 1 daughter had pork belly, slow-cooked till all the fat had disappeared leaving only intense flavour, No 2 daughter and I had succulent roast chicken on a tasty cassoulet base. Daughters finished with sticky toffee pudding (I've had it before - superb) and I had dark chocolate tart with beetroot ice cream - strange mixture of flavours which complemented each other brilliantly. I had a dark creamy espresso to finish - strong and full of flavour. Service was friendly and very prompt without being intrusive and waiter was well-informed re food and wine. Highly recommended!
