Opened at the end of 2014, Le Chalet Beaumartin on Great Western Road is the sister restaurant to Le Bistro Beaumartin in the city centre. A compact and cosy 18 seat restaurant and deli, its cast iron stove and wooden board walls nod to the chalet of its name. Just as the décor suggests an alpine ski lodge, the menu also looks to the mountains for inspiration.
Alongside soups and desserts, Le Chalet Beaumartin specialises in hearty raclettes and fondues made with a mix of matured Beaufort, Comté and Emmental cheeses. Served with warm potatoes, the melted raclette cheese is eaten with platters of cured meats or vegetables. Diners can also add extra portions of foie gras or prawns.
If you have any room after your main course, you could continue the fondue theme with a chocolate fondue or finish off with fruit tart. Diners are welcome to bring their own wine with the £5 corkage fee going to local charities.
Le Chalet Beaumartin is on Glasgow’s Great Western Road. The nearest subway station is Kelvinbridge. There is limited on-street parking as well as pay parking at the subway station. Several bus routes to the city centre run along Great Western Road. Nearby attractions include Glasgow Botanic Gardens and Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum.
