We went to Bo'vine for a bit of treat dining on their market menu (£14.95) for two courses.
It has to be one of the worst meals ever! we were offered water when we arrived which seemed like a nice touch until you noticed that the cucumber in the glass was on its way to being off with the edges starting to wilt.
The starter I ordered (Goat's cheese mousse) tasted off and wasn't edible, it had a bizarre overpowering sour taste. Behind me I heard a couple complaining to staff that there was mozerella in their French onion soup (perhaps the kitchen had run out of the traditional gruyere?). Both my husband and I had ordered steak medium well. When the steak arrived mine was medium /rare, while my husband's was well done. (We could have cooked it more exactly ourselves.) The triple cooked chips were burnt and tasted horrid (I think that the fat needed to be changed), to the extent we couldn't eat them. Craving some carbs I asked for some bread and butter. I couldn't believe it, when instead of some home-made bread / crusty rolls I received two slices of buttered pan bread!!
We didn't finish either of our plates. The manageress was very apologetic, and we only had to pay for our wine.
However, this was not the standard of food I'd expect and will not be back, was a bit like a dodgy nightclub trying to do food. Very disappointing.
