We had an excellent steak dinner here last year but that was a la carte. This time we had an early dinner on the prix fixe option and the quality of sirloin steaks was really very poor. When the waitress inquired whether we were enjoying it halfway, the reply "the chips are excellent" was too subtle by half.
In fairness, at the end of the meal, when the steaks were described as "challenging", the courteous young Irishwoman said they would have been replaced had she been alerted earlier. On the positive side, the air-conditioned interior provided welcome relief from the Glasgow heatwave outside. Both starters were fine and the Merlot so eminently enjoyable that it deserved a better meat accompaniment!
