Athena Greek Taverna Review

  • Rating Nice Meal In A Pleasant Restaurant (Rating 3.6/5)
Warm welcome on arrival, although not sure if they thought we were a walk in as table had to be set. Reasonable choice of food on the set menu. I felt that with the dip there could have been two portions of pitta bread. This is based on cheapness of pitta and the turkish just up the road provides a gigantic free homemade flat bread/olives on arrival. Calamari starter had a nice batter and wasn't too heavy. We seemed to wait a bit for the main meal to come which was a shame as the main itself was tasty both in terms of the chicken souvlaki and the moussaka. Get two skewers if you order the chicken. We didn't have desert as we ran out of time due to going to the theatre which is a shame as the rice pudding sounded nice. Would recommend restaurant but give yourself a 2 hour time frame if you are going for 3 courses on the pre-theatre. Also ask for draft coke as the bottles are tiny. Other than that it is good value for a pre-theatre meal and worth a visit.
