    Excellent value

Pre theatre menue is really good value. Food was tasty and service was friendly and fast. Good option for dinner before a play at the Citz.

Persian restaurant in Laurieston

Sholeh is a well established Persian Restaurant on Nelson Street. Fitted out with smart contemporary decor, cosy booth seating and large windows which are ideal for people watching, it is a comfortable and welcoming space in which to explore the authentic Persian menu.

Persian barbeque

The careful use of herbs, spices, fruits, ground roots and even flowers is key to the menus produced by the chefs at Sholeh Persian Restaurant. In the case of the cold and warm starters – which are designed for sharing – this might mean baked and crushed aubergine which is slow-cooked with garlic and herbs before being topped with crushed walnuts, sautéed chopped mint and a splash of traditional Persian preserved yogurt whey.

The charcoal-grilled kebabs take pride of place. Tender chicken and lamb, both minced and cubed, are served with steamed rice and saffron or golden naan breads. They are accompanied by fresh herbs, salads, yoghurt and sprinkled spices. There is also an appetising section of slow-cooked, aromatic casseroles which are rich with the flavours of sun-dried limes, fenugreek, almonds, dill and pistachios.

Vegetarians are well looked after with dishes like the gheimeh bademjan – baby aubergines, yellow split peas, sun-dried lime and saffron, all slow-cooked in special tomato sauce and garnished with fries.
