First Time Visit, Would Come Back
Tried the 5pm deal on our first visit. Although the menu was limited, the food was lovely and the portions ample. £12 for 2 courses and a drink so excellent value for money too.
Excellent food and service
Fantastic meal, attentive waitress and great value
Informal Southside trattoria pizzeria and deli
The more informal offshoot of Black Dove restaurant, Pazzo is a bright and cheery pizzeria, trattoria, deli and takeaway on Kilmarnock Road in Glasgow’s Southside. The tables are plain and, barring the occasional Azzurri player, the stone walls are whitewashed. Everyone is welcome from Shawlands residents nipping in for a morning coffee to local workers whiling away their lunch hour and couples who come in for a low key dinner.
Traditional Italian cuisine
While Pazzo offers several, extensive menus which cover everything from breakfast to gourmet sandwiches, home-style Italian cooking is at the heart of the operation. As well as antipasto sharing boards, popular starters include the buffalo mozzarella fritters, lasagne poppers and salads such as the lentil, feta and roast pepper.
There is a short but carefully considered selection of pasta. The carbonara, ox cheek tagliatelle and ravioli filled with pumpkin and pecorino leap from the menu. Alongside the pasta are more trad Scottish dishes like the fish ‘n’ chips or Pazzo burger and fries. One of Pazzo’s main attractions is its highly customisable pizza menu. Diners can choose from different sizes, types of base, varieties of sauce and thirty or so toppings. Desserts range from classic tiramisu to a more daring peanut butter panna cotta.
Pazzo is on Kilmarnock Road in Shawlands. Pollokshaws East, Crossmyloof and Shawlands are the nearest train stations and there is street parking to the front and rear of the restaurant.
