Ian Brown Food & Drink Review

  • Rating Dinner treat (Rating 5/5)
Always get good food in this restaurant & this was no exception. We decided this time to go main & dessert. No choice of wine this time which was differwent to before when we could choose what red wine we wanted on the deal but that said the one we were given was lovely. Cabernet Sauvignon I think. I chose the Haddock Thermidor & my hubbie once again choose the steak bridie. My fish was nice & the potatoes were fab. Sprinkled with sea salt & roasted in their skins. Nice broccoli on the side. I've never had Thermidor before sonothing to compare it to. Like a fish in a white maybe slightly cheesy sauce baked & served in a clam shell. My hubbie's bridie came with carrots & homemade chips, served with a beef & red wine jus. Very tasty. He did however mention that the bridie was a bit dry inside maybe needed a bit of gravy. The bridie he has had before has been a venison one but seemed more moist. That said he still loved it & the chips & carrots. For pudding I had a chocolate Marquise with mango coulis & it was superb. Loving all things chocolate this hit the mark. My hubbie had vanilla pannacotta with raspberry coulis which looked as good as it sounds & tasted so. Considering you also get an amuse bouche [usually a nice small cup of soup this time butternut squash & crème fraise & was delicious] & some homemade bread with oils & vinegar this is a fantastic deal. If you have never been before & fancy trying it out this is a great way to do it being only £13-14 for two courses & all the extras. I noticed on the menu that they also do sandwiches at lunchtime so may be worth a lunch visit for something lighter. Staff are always very friendly & helpful & any dietary needs can be catered for. This was our fourth visit & we can't wait to make our 5th.
