We had a lovely meal here from the set menu. The portions were really big so it was good value for money. The staff were nice and friendly and the restaurant was comfortable and warm on the cold night we were there.

Excellent food and service but somewhat sullied by being charged for deserts as the deal was for 3 courses for £19.95. Unfortunately we didn't realise until afterwards when we checked our booking, having assumed (wrongly) that we would be charged for what we booked for.

Scotland’s first Greek restaurant, The Golden Greek Kebab, opened in 1972. Almost 50 years later, it is now run by Frosoulla, the daughter of the original owners. The restaurant has moved across the road from its original site and the decor has been polished and updated. However, at heart, the same warm welcome and generous sense of hospitality are the guiding ethos here.
Frosoulla Kyriacou aims to maintain the traditional Greek culinary heritage of her parents while adding the occasional, well judged update. As you might expect, there is a wide selection of starters for sharing. The falafels, salt and pepper kalamari, tzatziki and keftedes meatballs are all very popular.
The signature main course is the melt in the mouth kleftiko – large pieces of tender lamb, slow cooked with oregano and herbs. Lighter options might be the dill and salmon fishcakes or the seafood saganaki. There is an appealing char grill section, all cooked over charcoal for that unique smoky flavour. The vegetarian options are diverse and make good use of ingredients such as silky aubergine and creamy feta cheese.
Frosoulla’s The Greek Restaurant is on Sinclair Drive in the Battlefield area of Glasgow’s Southside. The nearest train station is Mount Florida and there is restricted on-street parking by the restaurant. Local attractions include Queen’s Park and Hampden Park stadium.
