Good trattoria-type food - we're not talking exotic, high-faluting stuff here - but, for the price, it's unbeatable. £9.95 for two courses and a glass of wine: generous portions, fresh ingredients and traditional Italian cooking with a few original touches. My starter - a dolcelatte based crostino (advertised as crostini but served as one big generous one) was creamy, tasty and garnished with rocket. My companion's Prawn Marie Rose was gratifyingly heavy on the prawns and light on the sauce - usually this dish is like prawn soup, this was a good, substantial starter. We both had the chili and garlic marinated chicken with aglio olio linguini. The chili made the pasta more like pasta peperoncino, but, since that's one of my favourite dishes, I wasn't complaining! The chicken was tasty and tender. It was served with freshly-shaved parmigiano and more rocket (which was definitely the leaf of the day - very plentiful!). All very satisfying - plus we parlayed the %pm deal's glasses of wine into a discount on a crisp cold bottle of pinot grigio. The helpings were generous enough for us to forgo dessert (ice cream, cheesecake, or tiramisu were on offer). The waitress was extremely efficient and friendly.
