Neighbourhood café bistro on Speirs Wharf
A short walk from the city centre, Ocho Delicatessen sits in an eye-catching Victorian building on the banks of the impressive Speirs Wharf. It’s a light and bright space with views that make the most of the canal-side location. Decorated with vintage pictures and posters from around the world, Ocho has oodles of charm and character. At night, candles give it a romantic, intimate ambience. Don’t be surprised if the owner or chef invites you to sample a new dish they are working on – it’s a friendly place.
Healthy, tasty and local produce
From gluten-free dishes to allergen friendly requirements, Ocho deftly handles dietary preferences without making a song and dance about it. Health and taste go hand in hand here with the kitchen taking daily delivery of fresh, local and organic produce. From the breakfast pancakes to the venison casserole, as much as possible is made from scratch.
From eggs Benedict to full cooked breakfasts, baked potatoes and deli sandwiches, brunch and lunch are a speciality at Ocho. More complex options might be the Brie bon bons with cranberry chutney and toasted pistachios or the cuu chee curry – chicken, mangetout and turmeric, served with brown rice.
Local transport links and attractions
Ocho is on Speirs Wharf. There is some on-site parking and Cowcaddens subway is a short five minute walk. The 128 bus service runs to and from the city centre. Local attractions include the National Piping Centre and Theatre Royal.
