Food was great (all except the beef stew which was a little tastless), Great value for money will definitely be back.
Spanish tapas restaurant in Merchant City
Opened in the spring of 2016, Mi Casa is a Spanish tapas restaurant on John Street. From the jamon being sliced on the counter to the pan-fried padron peppers, the focus is on authentic Spanish flavours at this friendly and welcoming bodega. Spanish music and monthly salsa dancers emphasise the Latin atmosphere. The cocktail list may come in handy for anyone keen to foster that fiesta feeling. If the weather is Spanish then diners can eat al fresco on the terrace.
The Spanish owner of Mi Casa hails from Zaragoza in northern Spain and the menu reflects that heritage in dishes like the fideua – a pasta-based take on paella which originated from the Valencia region. As well as rice-based seafood paella, the menu is strong on fish and shell dishes such as
gambas gabardina – prawns in a tempura jacket.
Slow-cooked pork cheeks, meatballs and chorizo cooked in wine are among the many more carnivorous options. Veggie choices include classic dishes such as Spanish tortilla and everyone’s favourite, patatas bravas.
