    Great atmosphere

Had a wee Sunday lunch here 12.95 for 2 courses with a free glass of wine as we had booked through 5.pm. We had garlic prawns and chicken strips to start. Then pasta and fish and chips for main . All really nice with good portions . As this is right in merchant square it has a lovely atmosphere . The service was fab to start with then our waiter must have finished as we struggled to get the waitress attention to get the bill but paid at the counter in the end . We will be back

Authentic Spanish tapas restaurant in Glasgow’s Merchant City

Mercado is Spanish for market, an appropriate name for this inviting and stylish tapas bar located in the old Merchants’ Market in the midst of all the Merchant City action. With its glass roof and cobbled terrace, it’s an atmospheric vantage point for people-spotting while you enjoy authentic Spanish cuisine. It’s a lively option for light lunches or romantic date nights, and also offers lunch and pre-theatre set menus. Saturday night is salsa night at Mercado, with live performances.

Viva Espana with paella, tapas and Sangria

Mercado offers the real taste of Spain in menus that emulate tapas bar favourites from the Iberian peninsular. Popular main dishes include a variety of paellas, marinated pork skewers with a spicy mojo picon sauce, and chicken and chorizo salad. Tapas selections offer familiar items from your Costa holidays such as albondigas de ternera meatballs and gambas al pil pil, prawns with garlic, chilli and coriander. Seafood and fish are freshly sourced locally.

Sangria, cava and imported beers such as Estrella, Alhambra and Mahou ensure that the Spanish influence extends to the drinks menu.
