    Lovely little Italian

Great food, house wine was also really good, lovely atmosphere. Service could have been a bit better as they were slow in taking orders and we didn't get the chance to order a second drink but I think they were unexpectedly busy due to the great Scottish run. I'll definitely be back (and hopefully the service will be better)!

Friendly, Merchant City Italian

A family-friendly and extremely welcoming restaurant, Fanelli’s is in Merchant Square in the Merchant city. The interior features large leather booths and a light, bright decor. The Merchant Square location means that diners can eat on the cobbled courtyard of the covered square and watch the Merchant City life go by without risking the Scottish weather. The upstairs level has a terrace bar for private hire.

Classic Italian favourites

From the veal saltimbocca to the wild mushroom pizza and the meatballs in tomato sauce, the menu at Fanelli’s is packed with much loved, classic Italian options. The pizzas are stone baked; the risottos are made with Arborio rice and the house pâté is flavoured with Marsala.

Among the most popular dishes are the king prawns cooked with cherry tomatoes, butter, chilli, garlic and white wine plus the Rossini steak – steak medallions on garlic croutons with pâté. Lighter options include the salmon in a white wine sauce and the picante pollo – spicy, bread-crumbed chicken strips served with chips, salad and garlic mayo.

Merchant City transport and attractions

Arisaig is in the Merchant Square, part of Glasgow’s Merchant City. It is a brisk ten minute walk from both Central and Queen Street rail stations. Both bus stops and taxi ranks are plentiful in the area. There is pay parking at Ingram Street. St Enoch is the nearest subway. Local attractions include City Halls, Old Fruitmarket and the Tron Theatre.
