Came here to celebrate our first positive pregnancy test, so no wine review I’m afraid.
Location location location, any dining experience in merchant square has an almost outdoor Mediterranean feel to it. Choose to dine “outside” if asked, its a great setting. The service was also very good.
We had a la carte.
Starters: duck and chicken terrine-Lovely but was missing an accompaniment to finish it off.
Black pudding and bacon salad- really simple and nice but quality of black pudding and bacon was not great (try Stornoway BP and Ayrshire bacon).
Mains: We had a duck and a lamb dish, both meats were cooked to perfection ! but were let down by pretty average accompaniments, lack of sauce and overcooked potato.
Desert: Sticky toffee pudding and ice cream was nice, but nothing special for the price. My partner got the cheese board, which was disappointing for the£ 7 or £8 we paid for it.
The food was acceptable, but for £73 (with 4 soft drinks) it was not value for money. We have had far better at numerous restaurants on 5pm with pre theatre deals at half the price.
Did Arsaig leave its soul in the city centre when it moved to the Merchant City ?
