What a shame this place has really gone downhill since the move to Merchant Square. It was ever reliable for a fantastic good value meal and excellent drinks menu.
We had the pre theatre 13 quid each for 3 courses, excellent value, but the cheapest bottle of wine available was £18!
Starters were Haggis fritters, an old favorite pre-move. Unfortunately all the flavour has been removed, under seasoned and over cooked. My fishcakes had similar failings, no flavour, all potato and very little fish. The sauces on both dishes were tasteless.
Main courses were a bit better, my chicken was overcooked however. My Mrs' fish and chips were okay.
Banana split between us for dessert was the highlight, there were only two options for desert, but this turned out okay.
The ambiance of the place is non-existent, very sterile and no character. Service was okay, although I did have to pour my own wine. The tables were a mess, covered in scores where the varnish had been scratched off.
It's such a shame, Arisaig was one of my favourite restaurants and now I would be very unlikely to go back.
