When we arrived at the restaurant for our early evening meal we were allocated a miniature table for four jammed into a space at the very edge of the restaurant's compound in Merchant Square. As well as being a tight fit it was unbearably hot(no airconditioning apparently)and very noisy. Perhaps other people may regard that as ambience but we could hardly hold a conversation. After complaining we were moved to a much larger table out of the direct heat and noise. Fifty minutes later our meal arrived. The stew was like a rather poor steak pie filling although the accompanying black pudding was very good. All four of us were in agreement that it was a very disappointing meal which, coupled with the abysmally poor service, was not even good value for the amazingly low price of £15 per person. Perhaps they think that poor food and service are acceptable at that price but we will not be returning to sample the a la carte menu.
