    Amore

the food and the service was excellent the only downside was the table where we were put was very hidden away. We asked for a table by the window but were told we couldn't have one but at the time of the meal the restaurant was empty and that was the only downside

Family-run Italian in Merchant City

Amore Ristorante e Pizzeria is a family-owned Italian in Glasgow’s Merchant City. The Ingram Street restaurant opened in 2008 and has won many loyal clients thanks to its friendly service and authentic Italian dishes. Amore has a spacious, open dining room but also offers booths for those keen on a more intimate meal. The tartan-backed seats are always a talking point. Views into the kitchen allow diners to watch the kitchen brigade in action.

Extensive Italian menus

Amore offers several menus including a very comprehensive a la carte. Hearty pasta and crisp, stone-baked pizza choices are prominent. Old favourites such as spaghetti carbonara rub shoulders with more experimental options like the pizza alla Scozzese – pizza topped with haggis and bacon.

As well as seafood dishes like the mussels in a marinara sauce, there is a selection of steaks, Italian burgers and chicken dishes like the pollo al pepe – chicken breast flamed in brandy and served with a creamy peppercorn sauce. Naturally, there is a selection of classic veal dishes such as vitello Milanese and saltimbocca alla Romana – veal cooked with Parma ham, cheese and a white wine and sage velouté.
