Don't miss lunch at this restaurant which is currently rated in the top three in Glasgow. Two Fat Ladies at the Buttery might be located in a tenement nestling close to the Kingston Bridge but it is a great place for an intimate dinner or a special occasion. The decor is old Glasgow with lots of dark wood, tartan carpets with tea and coffee served in bone china cups. The lunch and pre theatre menus offer a good choice of what proved to be a delicious fine dining experience at reasonable prices. The a la carte menu includes, beef, lamb and duck but fresh Scottish fish and shellfish dominate. Plump, juicy, caramelised scallops and lemon sole skilfully taken off the bone are typical of the top quality Scottish seafood. The mouth watering food is beautifully presented with desserts looking like an art form. The knowledgeable staff are very friendly, efficient and helpful. The service is immaculate and adds to the culinary experience. There is an extensive wine list starting just over £20 with some good wines by the glass. Ask for a table in the main dining room where the table cloths are starched white linen and the reserved atmosphere is best. This establishment is very busy at weekends and early booking is advisable. Ask for any offers when making a reservation. Currently one of the best places in Glasgow to eat where the 3 course set menu, including a glass of house wine, is excellent value for money in this highly recommended, fine dining restaurant.
