Booked table via 5pm as they had 20% off food bill offer.
Arrived and the gentleman staff member looked confused when I told him I booked via 5pm He was hesitant as the place was fully booked and seemed reluctant to show us to a table. But he pointed to a table and advised they were nearly finished and told us to have a drink at bar. I was a bit embarrassed and gave him the chance to decline our booking if they were too busy and I also added we would eat and leave quickly.
He insisted we wait and take the table. I decided to wait at the tables outside and ordered a schooner of IPA for hubby. A few mins later, the same gent came out and advised they had a cancellation and showed us to a table.
They brought water to the table with two glasses of ice and the water was infused with cucumber.
I was reassured to see an Asian chef in the kitchen as I am weary of Asian food cooked by Caucasians.
Delighted to report food authentic and delicious!
We shared mixed tempura and for main we both had a bento box each -1 with teriyaki chicken and 1 with Katsu pork. The miso soup which came with the bentos was delicious and the sushi was fresh.
I have to admit must of the other customers and front of house staff were young, attractive hipster types -felt slightly out of place!
My husband loved the IPA on draught.
Planning return visit with our young, hipster Swedish cousins when they visit at start of August & looking forward to trying other items on the menu.
