Neighbourhood café by Kelvingrove
Montgomery’s Café is a welcoming and cheery, neighbourhood café on Radnor Street, by the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. A bright colour scheme, hanging lights and intricate cornicing all catch the eye but the real attention-grabber is the huge map of the world on the ceiling. A family-run, kids-friendly business, Montgomery’s has its own bakery where they produce their own cakes and bread.
Breakfast and brunch through to dinner
Open for breakfast through to the evening, Montgomery’s serves everything from speciality tea and coffee to Luvians ice cream, soups, sandwiches and pancakes. The all day brunch stacks are very popular. Think along the lines of Melba toast stacked with Stornoway black pudding, vine tomato, oven-baked smoked back bacon and poached egg – all finished with a rich Hollandaise sauce.
In the evenings, the candles come out and the kitchen produces a short but thoughtful range of dishes such as chicken and bacon salad; potted Orkney crab and hot smoked salmon and pea risotto.
