Wonderful restaurant from a bygone era
Possibly the last of the “traditional” restaurants in Glasgow, situated in the remnant of a tenement close to the M8. Unlikely setting from the outside but inside, a beautiful Victorian-panelled restaurant. Wonderful ambience and fantastic service - attentive and friendly without being obsequious.
The food was excellent - fantastic “jus” just to accompany both the starter and the main course.

Outstanding seafood & Scottish luxury
The Buttery is one of Glasgow’s oldest, most enduring and celebrated restaurants, well known for its relaxed atmosphere and unique interior of oak panelling, stained glass and wonderful mahogany and marble bar. Under the hands of the Two Fats team, it has earned plenty of awards and great reviews – not least for the five star quality of the service.
Eating in Two Fat Ladies at the Buttery is pretty special at any time. One of Glasgow’s oldest and best loved venues, every meal here feels like a memorable occasion.
Daily changing menus
Outstanding seafood is of course a strong feature on the menu, but there are also plenty of meaty (and meat-free!) delights.
Individual dishes may vary depending on season and what is available from suppliers but typical starters might be the warm smoked duck salad with a pomegranate vinaigrette or the oak smoked salmon and mini Thai fishcake with a spinach and lime purée.
Typical main courses are the fillets of sole with brown shrimp, lemon and flat leaf parsley butter or the pressed pork belly served with black pudding and Puy lentils.
Leave space for desserts such as the glazed lemon tart with lemongrass scented sorbet or the steamed pear and walnut pudding with caramel ice cream.
Central transport links
Whilst being centrally located on the border between the city centre and the West End, Two Fat Ladies at The Buttery is in a residential area, a two minute walk from Anderston train station. There is ample parking and quick access to the M8 motorway.
