Rating Not a spiritual experience but a good earthly one (Rating 4.2/5)
First up on our first visit here was a stop at the bar for pre-dinner cocktails. Although busy, we found a seat at the classy and different bar tables - different because they were lit from below. So I guess that was a spiritual experience, reminding one of the bar scene in The Shining. We'd no longer sat down that a waiter came to take our order and promptly deliver it - two very well made and nicely chilled Manhattans.
We were then led to our table at the anointed hour for dinner, choosing our food from the pre-theatre menu for 5pm customers. Very good value and while limited, the selection was good. My ham hock was perfect size, nicely presented and tasty. The hake on puy lentils for my main consisted of delicate fish, perfectly cooked and the lentils were just right. When our wine arrived we felt it was on the warm side but the wine waiter was only too happy to put on ice and when it was ready to serve, made sure we were topped up regularly. Only thing I didn't like was the music to begin with. A not at all melodic dirge. However it got a little better later in the evening.
