Hugely disappointing as we have been here on several occasions (mostly at weekends) and the atmosphere and service has been much better even with a large crowd of us. Perhaps the return custom of two is more disposable?
It got off to a bad start as they questioned the price of the 5pm a la carte offer (quoted as an average of £13.50 for two courses) which they mocked. That set the tone for the evening and we should really just have got up and left.
Wrong drink served, missing cutlery, waiters gone AWOL, long delay for side order of veg, no sign of pepper or parmesan etc....and they didn't even have the excuse of it being busy. The table next to us appeared to be as unhappy with the standard of service and were bemused as to how to manage their bowl of soup with no spoon!
Both of the waiters were very rude and may not have realised that we understood some of the comments made. Guys, you got no tip as that is precisely what you deserved! To comment on that whilst customers were within earshot was unprofessional but typical of your behaviour that evening. On other occasions, Pulcinella has had a warm and friendly atmosphere, even when busy, and I wonder if our visit might have been more pleasant had the more elderly waiter been on duty as his friendly demeanour and good service would always merit 5 stars. One star was the lowest possible that the review system would allow and is one more than deserved last night. We will not be returning.
