Cuisine: Mexican, Tapas
Bringing a little Cuban passion to Glasgow city centre, Poco Havana is a colourful, vibrant basement bar and restaurant on West Regent Street. The bright decor will add some sunshine to the rainiest of Glasgow days and the craft beers, rum and tequila cocktails certainly don’t hurt in that regard either. Add in some Latin American tunes and downtown Havana suddenly seems within reach.
The menu at Poco Havana takes in a broad swath of Latin America with the occasional Spanish detour. Jamaican jerk chicken and Spanish churros desserts line up alongside a lunchtime selection of Cuban sandwiches. Assorted tacos, burritos and fajitas vie for attention with a range of burgers sporting South American toppings such as salsa and guacamole.
Groups of grazers may wish to investigate the tapas. Chilli and garlic prawns, padron peppers and patatas bravas fly the flag for Spain while option such as slices of sirloin steak in a spicy chimichurri sauce owe more to Argentina.
Poco Havana is in basement premises at 48A West Regent Street, next door to Gin71. There is limited on-street parking and pay parking at Buchanan Street Galleries. Glasgow Central and Queen Street rail stations plus St. Enoch and Buchanan Street subway stations are a five minute walk. Local attractions include Glasgow Royal concert Hall and The Pavilion Theatre.
