Brasserie at Malmaison (Glasgow) Reviews

  • Mixed portion sizes! (Rating 2.8/5)
I booked this deal for 6 people. It included a small glass of wine which was very drinkable. The first course choices were mushroom & smoked garlic soup (nice, good portion); goats cheese, apple and walnut salad (very good, decent portion); smoked mackerel pate (nice but TINY portion). This caused consternation at the table! Main course portion sizes were also variable. Mains were delicious but we all had room for a third course. Cheese choice was generous. Bread and butter pudding was fine. Cranachan was not at all authentic - just a pile of not-quite-defrosted fruits of the forest in cream. No detectable whisky. Shortbread accompaniment tasted more like pastry than shortbread. Then they accidentally charged us £31.90 for the 2 courses instead of £15.95! They did apologise when we pointed this out and the bill was right the second time round.

  • Great Meal (Rating 4/5)
Well it was a tricky start, booking not immediately recognised. Ten minute wait at the bar while others with no booking were seated. But the food was tasty, well presented and the service better after we were seated.
