    Last minute

My fiancé and I were in Glasgow for the day spending some very rare time together. We decided to check out deals in the area for dinner and came across one for Liberte. We were a bit dubious as we had never been before but we had nothing to worry about. The food was out of this world and the portions were amazing! The staff were very friendly and attentive. We had 2 courses which consisted of baked Camembert, lobster and steak and a bottle of the house wine and our total bill came to £41!! Now that is value for money! Would definitely recommend and we will be back.

French bar bistro in Glasgow city centre

Located in Glasgow’s Charing Cross, Liberté Bar and Bistro is a contemporary French restaurant on North Street. The spacious dining room and bar have a mezzanine level which, when combined with the booth seating, mean that Liberté is ideal for dining with friends or a deux in a more intimate setting. The outdoor decking area at the rear is a sun trap on a summer day. Much like the pavement seating at the front of the restaurant, it provides an excellent al fresco dining option.

Classic French bistro dishes

The Liberté menu reads like a greatest hits from the French bistro/brasserie repertoire. From the French onion soup to the crème brulée, all the familiar dishes are there. Diners could opt for a simple moules marinière followed by boeuf Bourguignon or push the bateau out and order the lobster frites. There are charcuterie and cheese platters for those who want graze over after work drinks while a prix fixe menu offers a keenly priced three courses.

The Bonnie Prince Jimmy burger, deep-fried Mars Bar and frites et fromage side order give a very Glasgow take on the Auld Alliance.

Central location

Liberté Bar and Bistro is on North Street, a five minute walk from Charing Cross rail station. It is also close to many bus routes and a five minute walk from a Sauchiehall Street taxi rank. There is some on-street parking. The King’s Theatre and the O2 ABC are a ten minute walk.
