I had passed this restaurant many times and it always looked inviting. Handy location for city centre. I went for lunch on a Saturday with a 5pm offer and found it did indeed have a good feel. Lots of busy booths filled with happy customers. It's very French bistro and staff were training but keen to get things right. It was a bit hard to get attention at times but maybe this was due to the training aspect and staff concentrating on one task at a time. The only blight on the ambience was the shouting person behind the bar - this seems to be a deliberate attempt to create atmosphere but instead it just sounded as if there was about to be a big argument. It was not colourful at all, just intrusive. The food was very enjoyable, starters of cauliflower sop and goat cheese salad fresh and tasty. My rare steak was indeed rare and although it had a fair bit of gristle, was very tasty as was the roast chicken. Drinks were not quite of the same standard, the rose prosecco had fizz but no flavour and the coffee was so weak it looked like tea, even with another shot added. It wouldn't put me off going back, I would just choose different options from the menu, the red wine was absolutely fine although I would rather not be pressed to order a bigger glass please. Good choice for a lunch out and I will probably be back another time and perhaps sample some of the cocktails on offer.
