This restaurant is a Glasgow institution, and rightly so. From the moment you walk into Gamba you can tell it's going to be a classy affair; moody lighting, quality furnishings, the rat pack in the background, and fish on the walls. In terms of food the menu was great, the dishes were fantastic, and the drinks received pass marks. The only thing that let's this place down is the value for money, we paid £30 per person for 3 courses plus a glass of house wine. It sounds great but when you think of it as £10 per course (the starters and desserts were small, I had soup and ice cream!) it doesn't really equate to much value. The drinks were very pricey; £6 for a small glass of house white, £4 for a bottle of beer, and £9-£12 for a cocktail. Gamba is definitely the place to go for a special meal as you wont be disappointed, the food is amazing but I think they could be doing more to entice a younger clientele, or maybe they don't need to.
