About Elia Greek Restaurant
'Best Greek meal outside of greece'
Lyndsey Dawson - 16/04/2015
Ευχαριστώ To all the lovely staff at Elias
This is our fifth time at the restaurant although first time we booked through 5pm. Although there seems to have been a bit of a mix up (restaurant told 5pm we didn't turn up) about our attendance that's the only negative thing I have to say about the restaurant.
Everything about this restaurant is great. You really feel you are in a Greek taverna yet you are situated in the centre of Glasgow. Dinners are simple, plain and cooked to perfection with all the herbs and perfect blend of rice and chips as would be expected in Greece (or indeed Cyprus where we lived for many years). It's so refreshing to go into a Themed restaurant where the staff actually speak the language and I just wanted to laugh at the very animated conversations going on between staff ( work related) I felt just like I had been transported to Greece.
Portions are good sized enough to leave you full but still wanting more or perhaps that's just because the food is so good you want to start all over again even though you couldn't fit another thing in.

I love Greek food and it is so lovely to experience true Cretin food in Glasgow. Heaven. I have been to this restaurant on may occasions and it truly takes my back to my holidays in Crete. Staff are superb second only to the food. Booking up again soon.

Authentic Greek food
Owner George Leronymidis presides over Elia’s kitchen which creates Greek dishes made from Scottish produce. Specialities include Kleftiko slow cooked lamb on the bone in tomato sauce and Keftedes, traditional meatballs made with freshly ground beef seasoned with Greek herbs. The restaurant also offers an extensive Greek wine list which includes Agioritiko, a dry wine from a monastery in Mount Athos, and Metoxi which comes from the mountains of Halkidiki.
Elia also offers a range of meze dishes with include dolmathes (rice and herbs wrapped in grapevine leaves), tigania loukanika (spicy pork village sausages cooked with onions and mixed peppers) and naturally, many options including feta and haloumi cheese.
Elia’s focus on authenticity can be traced down to their choice of olive oil which is created from the family vineyards.
