Di Maggio's (City Centre) Review

  • Rating Awful pizza, tasteless ice cream. (Rating 1.6/5)
I came here for lunch with my mum. We often come here and usually have a great time. I was really disappointed with my pizza and ice cream. I ordered a salami pizza. The sausage was far too thick and chewy, tasted disgusting and was over salty. My pizza was also swimming in grease. I could not taste the tomato base on my pizza at all. I complained to the manager and he did apologise and said he would speak to the chef. My day was ruined and I left hungry. The manager also noticed that my mother and I had not eaten our ice cream. When we said it was tasteless, he laughed and said no one else has ever complained and that it is the finest Italian ice cream. We were slightly insulted by him laughing at us and believe me, I do know what fine Italian ice cream tastes like; I lived in Italy for 4 years!! My mum was happy with her pasta - penne positano. However, we will not be back after this experience of poor pizza, ice cream and being laughed at by the manager. Certainly not as polite or professional as the area manager Mark, whom we've spoken to before on one of our visits.
