My daughter bought this deal for part of my birthday. I took my friend and sister for as I thought a special day out. How wrong was I?
I had booked a table for 2pm, but on our arrival there was no table reserved for us and we were "put" to a table at the bar. The staff had to clear chairs and wine stands from the area to allow us to sit down. No one appeared with crockery, cutlery, napkins or asked if we would like to order anything.
I found out as I wished to add on soup and sandwiches to the deal, I had to go to the counter and pour the soup and order the sandwiches.
I asked for napkins and a knife for the bread (which was stored in a clear poly bag on the counter).
While waiting a lady returned her soup as it was cold, so I asked a staff member to microwave the three bowls I had poured.
These were served to the table some time later with still no knife (but napkins).
The waiter then brought our sandwiches and went to leave without taking away the dirty soup bowls. He did uplift them after I asked him to. The bread was stale round the edges.
The area were we sat was like the staff canteen. Staff were changing their shoes, hanging up jackets in a cupboard at our table.
All in all what should have been a very pleasant afternoon turned out to be a disaster.
To be fair the cost of the soup an sandwiches were not charged, which I would have expected anyway given all that had gone wrong. The scones were lovely though.
We were all disappointed with our treatment and wish to share our experience so that a big improvement can be made my management of the hotel.
