We booked a table for 4 through 5pm.co.uk for dinner on Saturday 22 December 2012. The deal was two courses from their market menu and a bottle of wine for £30 per couple. The restaurant was surprisingly quiet for the Saturday before Christmas and I wondered whether or not I had made a mistake. Looking around us however indicated that most restaurants in Princes Square were also quiet. We were shown to our table and order from their fairly extensive market menu. Two of us had the mussels in a white wine sauce, one of us had the prawn and the other had the chicken liver pate. Everyone was delighted with their starter. Mussels were plump and juicy although the sauce needed just a wee bit of seasoning. For mains, two of us had the rib-eye steak (£1.50 supplement) and for me, it was cooked perfectly. The other two had the pan fried sea bass fillets. No complaints from anyone. We shared the trio of desserts and finished with coffee. The deal included a bottle of wine per couple and we had a bottle of white (which satisfied the normally hard to please ladies!),and a bottle of Spanish Tempranillo which, for a 13% wine, was relatively light with black cherry notes. Total bill was around £80 for 4, not bad!!
Service was discreetly attentive but not 'in your face'.
No pressures were put on us to leave as soon as we had finished our meals and we eventually left around 10pm despite having sat down at 6.30pm.
Well done Cranachan!!
