Average Hotel Food (Rating 3.2/5)
I always think hotel restaurants are great at breakfast but not much else and the Collage restaurant seems to validate my theory. My trout starter was pretty tasteless really. An assiette of Trout done three ways and if it wasnt for the dressing, cucumber relish and endive salad, I'm not sure there would have been any flavours on the plate at all, not even a pattern to fall back on and keep my attention! Again the main course of coley was also quite disappointing, a small peice of fish and overall the plate lacked any kind of personality. Oh hum, take it or leave it kind of dish. My partner's pork ravioli fared batter and looked quite appetising really, however the saddle of lamb was overly fatty and when mentioned to the waiter who said that's how it comes - the fat adds flavour. To what? I should have has some on my starter. Having given pudding a miss I think we'll do the same with Collage Restaurant in the future. Although never say never!
