Having expanded from its original Edinburgh home, Chop Chop brings authentic and award-winning dishes from the north east of China to Glasgow’s Mitchell Street. Chef Jian Wang may be familiar from appearances on Gordon Ramsay’s F-Word and STV. The Glasgow Chop Chop has been designed to look like a park in springtime with cherry blossom trees and a trompe l’oeil blue sky ceiling.
If you think you know Chinese food then Chop Chop will likely come as an enjoyable surprise. Very different from the food in conventional UK Chinese restaurants, Chop Chop’s dishes are simple, fresh and completely free from artificial ingredients. The different varieties of steamed or fried dumplings deservedly get a lot of attention but it would be foolish to overlook the garlic aubergines, crispy northern beef, sweet ‘n’ sour pork ribs, chilli green beans, lamb with cumin seeds or cucumber salad.
The restaurant offers several unlimited banquet options which are ideal for groups. Alternatively, order a la carte. Dishes are brought to the table as they are ready rather than in a starter then main course format.
Chop Chop is on Mitchell Street in the heart of Glasgow. Central and Queen Street stations are a five minute walk. Chop Chop offers a deal on pay parking at Mitchell Street and Glass Street NCP. Local attractions include the shops of Buchanan Street and the Gallery of Modern Art.
