Rating Unexpected Treat (Rating 5.0/5)
Booked on 5pm site for the fixed menu deal. You wouldn't know from the outside of the restaurant that the inside is so nice - a quirky mixture of old style (chandeliers, candelabras and candles, glass lampshades, high back leather chairs at entrance) with industrial (visible ventilation system). My partner's steak was great tasting, if a bit cold when it arrived. My kale salad, the only main meal option for vegetarians on the set menu, was full of delicious flavours. Salad has not been on my mind on a grey November day and it sounded very "worthy" but it was a fab salad. We both had the treacle tart for dessert, which was a treacle sponge rather than a tart but it was amazingly sweet, moist and delicious. Nice, relaxed, friendly staff. Downpoints? The house white wine was underwhelming. The drinks are quite expensive. Apart from that, all was good and we had a lovely evening. Will be back to try some hot vegetarian food!
