Cosy Italian trattoria in Glasgow Theatreland
Azzurro is a traditional Italian trattoria on Cambridge Street in the heart of Glasgow Theatreland. The simple, rustic decor is as warm as the welcome and the friendly service. Open for lunch and dinner, Azzurro runs a pre-theatre menu which is very popular with audiences at the nearby Theatre Royal and Glasgow Film Theatre.
Classic Italian favourites
At Azzurro, the good value lunch menu includes choices like the sautéed lamb liver with onions and red wine sauce; haddock fillet in a white wine and lemon sauce plus a selection of pizza. In the evenings, the menu expands to take in more thin-based pizza; classic Italian antipasti and a wide range of pasta.
As well as steak and chicken dishes, the a la carte at Azzurro includes veal classics such as veal in breadcrumbs served with spaghetti and saltimbocca alla Romana – escalope of veal topped with Parma ham, cooked in a white wine and sage sauce. Popular fish dishes include spaghetti with mussels, tomato and herbs and Mediterranean fish stew with garlic bread.
