On a very rainy day in Glasgow we discovered "Amarone". Familiar with the wine (I am Italian.. but we chose to accompany our meal with a bottle of Barbera) and made even more comfortable by the friendliness of the staff (several fellow Italians) my husband and I decided to tackle the CAPESANTE CON PANCETTA ALLA GRIGLIA (scallops wrapped in bacon with garlic butter) starter which was absolutely delicious: tasty, morish, moist... Just enough, though one of those dishes that leaves one wanting for more!!!
Hence, to follow, I had the NODINO DI VITELLO SASSI (one of the best veal cutlets I've had in this country) and my husband enjoyed a lovely piece of FILETTO ALLA GRIGLIA (griddled fillet steak) that was cooked to perfection.
My veal was thick and juicy and so tasty it didn't need any sauces. I always have veal when it is on offer on the local menus, because it's quite a rare happening in this country. I wish more people would ask for it, so to put it on the menu of every good eaterie in Glasgow, just as it deserves!
We finished off with coffees (an excellent espresso by the way) so full as we were, we just couldn't manage dessert (though I must admit I cleaned the plate!).
I'd like to thank Monia (our waitress) for making the experience even more enjoyable. But thanks to Amarone for offering me another opportunity of a home from home. Ciao e a presto!
