'Fantastic place for Lunch!'
rodger mcclelland - 14/03/2015
What a great place this is and what a great lunch choice. From the moment we arrived (10minutes before it should open (oops)) the service was exemplary. Nothing was to much bother. Two of us had scallops to start, one had prawns and the other minestrone soup... Everyone loved their starters and a special recommendation for the soup, apparently "the best he had ever had". For mains steak, lamb (outstanding) and halibut were our dishes and going by four clean plates anither great course. The lunch menu was very reasonably priced and although some of our dishes had supplements they were well worth it! Overall, a great place for a nice relaxed lunch or even if you're after a quick bite to eat too. It became busy around half 12 so might be worth booking so you don't miss out on great food and the fantastic staff that made it a great lunch experience. We will definitely be back soon.

Contemporary city centre Italian restaurant

Amarone is a stylish Italian restaurant positioned beside Buchanan Street Subway station in Glasgow’s city centre. Ideally located for theatre-goers and weary shoppers, the restaurant is also a popular choice for a romantic rendezvous or just an informal meal with friends or family.

Italian cuisine made with fresh ingredients

The restaurant’s chefs use the freshest produce in their dishes and, where possible, will alter any dish to meet special requests or dietary requirements. Amarone’s signature dish is their antipasto misto, which consists of a selection of Italian cured meats, grilled and marinated vegetables and mozzarella.

The menu has an admirable selection of pizzas and pastas, as well as plenty of meat and seafood dishes, but don’t necessarily expect the usual fare – Amarone is perfect if you’re in the mood for Italian food, but would like to try something new. The restaurant’s cappesante con pancetta (seared Scottish king scallops with pancetta) is popular amongst diners, as is the rack of lamb with sauteed potatoes.

Close to city centre transport links

Amarone is child friendly, wheelchair accessible, and located at the corner of Buchanan Street and Nelson Mandela Square, next to Buchanan Street Subway station. The Royal Concert Hall is a 2 minute walk away, as is Queen Street train station, bus stops and a taxi rank. Central Station is also within walking distance.
