We booked for 5.45pm, arriving early at 5.30pm. We received a warm welcome, were quickly seated and drinks/food menu given to us. The restaurant was full and clearly understaffed. We were left for approximately 30 minutes before ordering, and received our starters by about 6.30pm. The starter was small and quickly finished. Unfortunately we started to worry as 7pm loomed and we had not received our main course despite reminding staff that we were booked in for pre-theatre menu and our show began at 7.30pm. By 7.05pm we had ordered our desert, the bill in advance of main course and quickly ate our main course when it arrived. It was promptly followed by our dessert and final drinks.
We received the bill at 7.20pm and were horrified to discover that they had automatically added a 10% service charge. As you can imagine, our experience did not warrant a tip. However, had it not been for the fact that other customers were complaining and we did not want to miss the beginning of our show, we did pay the final bill and ran to the theatre. On this basis, we will not return to Alla Turca. The food looked nice, but we were unable to appreciate it in such a rush. The waiting staff took the brunt of many complaints, and I was sorry to see them so stressed. The owners should be ashamed. This restaurant would be more enjoyable if you have all night to spare - they should think carefully about advertising pre-theatres meals in future.
