We have previously visited the restaurant and really enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere of the place. So, we decided to book for Valentine’s Day – what a mistake! On arrival, we were seated at a very small table right next to the kitchen door. The door constantly bashed open and shut, and left a very cold draught every time it done so. The whole service was very rushed and poor - my partner ordered steak and no note was taken as to how this was to be done. The steak arrived very rare and bloody which was enough to put him off his meal. We also ordered a bottle of wine, which was taken away to be chilled. This seems like a nice idea but not when you have to wait through main and dessert for your glass to be refilled! We were also handed the bill without asking for it, even though we were still waiting to finish the bottle of wine! The meal itself should come with a warning that the mains don’t come with any sides – order the chicken and you literally just get chicken. To add sides this was an extra £4-ish. We knew that there was a service charge, but this shouldn’t be applied when the service is poor! We would have stayed and complained or challenge the charge, but we paid and left without anyone even noticing. The restaurant felt overbooked, with people queueing on the stairs waiting to be seated. Horrible experience and I can quite happily say that I won’t be returning. There are much nicer restaurants just around the corner where the meal and service are to a much higher quality!
