No 29 The Grill is a modern city centre restaurant with a reputation for good food and excellent steaks. We enjoyed the 2 for £29 lunch with friends, in a very relaxed atmosphere. The starters included a spicy prawn brochette and a full flavoured slice of Stornoway black pudding with a poached egg on a tattie scone. There was a good choice of mains and we had roast free range chicken supreme stuffed with haggis, char-grilled scotch beef steak burger and an enjoyable and colossal salmon fish cake masquerading as fish of the day. Our lunch was washed down with a large glass of complimentary white wine. The staff are young, attentive and efficient. There is a good selection of wines starting around £25 per bottle and 9 or 10 wines by the glass. If you like people watching ask for a table by the window and watch the Glaswegians scurrying below in Royal Exchange Square. Excellent value for money on the fixed menus although they charge extra for sides and the hot bread cut at your table. Definitely recommended.
