Appetising menu with some wrinkles in

First time visit here and after some initial problems in understanding the 5pm element we both chose the same items from an interesting menu. Our first course was an enjoyable duck salad but when the seafood stew came my version was devoid of the sea bass element promised but instead had salmon and fresh tuna. The opportunity to raise this only came after and then was more than satisfactorily dealt with by the management. Overall the meal was enjoyable but perhaps needs more 5pm visitors to improve the knowledge of the staff. A good French experience nonetheless.

Family-run French brasserie on Morrison Street

Les Amis is a family-run French brasserie and deli which opened on Morrison Street in the summer of 2015. Elegant, white tiled walls and an eye-catching, mustard leather banquette, all lit by distinctive hanging lights, vie for attention with the well stocked deli counter. Les Amis is a comfortable hang out for a morning coffee and patisserie; a quick, or indeed a leisurely, lunch; after work aperitifs or a romantic evening meal.

Local ingredients, French cooking

The Auld Alliance between France and Scotland powers the menus at Les Amis. Lunch might be a warming cream of new potato and Scottish leek soup followed by the fillet of Scottish salmon with baby boiled potatoes, brunoise of vegetables and Hollandaise sauce.
At dinner, more carnivorous choices might be the country terrine with rowan jelly with a main course of corn-fed, French chicken supreme with garlic pommes purée, a grain mustard reduction and julienne of vegetables. The fillet steak comes from the Buccleuch estate and is aged for 35 days.
Popular desserts include the French apple tart and the layered chocolate ganache cake with raspberries.
